Review guidelines

Last updated 2026-07-13. We want reviews on PriceKenya to help other Kenyan shoppers make decisions. These rules explain what we publish, what we don't, and how you can flag a review that looks off.

Who can write a review

Anyone with a working email address. You don't need to have bought the product on PriceKenya (we're a price-comparison site, not a merchant โ€” we can't verify purchases). You do need to click the confirmation link we email you before your review goes live.

What we publish

  • Your rating (1โ€“5 stars).
  • Your review title, body, pros, and cons (as-written, subject to the rules below).
  • The display name you enter and the date you posted.

We do not publish your email address.

What we don't allow

  • Reviews from anyone with a financial interest in the product or merchant (owners, employees, competitors, or people paid to review).
  • Personal information (phone numbers, addresses, ID numbers, anyone else's email).
  • Hate speech, threats, or content that would be illegal to publish under Kenyan law.
  • Off-topic content โ€” mention the product, not politics or unrelated merchants.
  • Links to other stores or promotional content.

How we moderate

Reviews publish immediately after email confirmation. We check them after they go live โ€” the same model most comparison sites use. If a reader flags a review as inappropriate, or if we spot a pattern (many reviews from the same IP, obviously scripted text), we hide the review from the product page. It stays in our records for audit, but no shopper sees it again unless we un-hide it.

We may also remove reviews without notice if they break the rules above. If you think we removed yours in error, email [email protected].

Editing your review

You can rewrite your review any time by submitting a new one with the same email โ€” it replaces the previous version. Editing invalidates the previous email confirmation, so you'll need to click a fresh confirmation link before the update goes public. The published review is labelled "Edited" so other shoppers know it changed.

Reporting a review

Every review has a small "Report" link. One click sends us a flag โ€” we don't ask for a reason, but you can add one if you want. Reports are anonymous.

Aggregate ratings

A product's overall star rating is the average of all currently-visible reviews. Hidden and pending-confirmation reviews don't count.
